How to wash duvets correctly

A good sleep depends also on the right choice of bed linen and a host knows it very well. When we talk about winter nights, cold and rainy, we think of a soft duvet, ideal for a dream rest!
Over the years the duvet has increasingly taken the place of the classic bedding and wool blanket being a more versatile, convenient and comfortable solution for its ease of washing.

The removable cover is easily washable ensuring a high level of hygiene while the wool blanket has a greater difficulty in washing and to have the safety of a bed always healthy you need to shake it regularly to avoid dust accumulation.

  • What is the best way to treat duvets to free them from dust and smog that settles in the stuffing?
  • How to preserve the filling power of the feathers and maintain their softness?

The first advice is to always consult the label to check the manufacturer washing warnings and verify the type of fabrics that make up the coating and padding.

Basically, the duvets, feather and synthetic, are washed with delicate programs that do not exceed 40° C; too high temperatures in fact would ruin the feathers and the external finishes.

  • Which washing machine is recommended?

First of all we must remember that it is important to have a good tumble dryer in addition to the washing machine, that allows to completely dry the padding preventing it from piling up in many small balls inside the duvet.

As for the washing machine is concerned, all EVO.Line washers include the specific duvets cycle while the capacity depends on the requested daily productivity. It is estimated that a single duvet weighs about 5kg while a double duvet lost 7 kg dry.

  • What OPTICYCLE program and which OPTIWASH products are suggested to get the right and efficient washing of duvets?
IMESA OPTIWASH

The suggested program is OPTIWASH DELICATES that works at the maximum temperature of 30°C and with a gentle spin specific for delicate garments to preserve fabrics and feathers.

OPTIWASH DELICATES uses DELI TEN, the mild deo-detergent particularly recommended for washing the feathers as it avoids packaging detangling. DELI TEN is also effective on organic stains and this ensures the removal of sweat present on bed linen.  A detergent too aggressive and full of enzymes could degrade the feathers, ruining the padding over time.

OPTIWASH DELICATES includes the addition of OXYE TEN, the whitening additive and stain remover already active at 20° C and for this reason also suitable for delicate items and FLUFFY TEN the scented softener made with silk proteins.

The consumption of detergent products is calibrated and managed by the IMESA dosing system composed of electronic board and peristaltic pumps
